Enjoy some "babymooning" with the BabyGurusFOR many mums-to-be the rush from work to antenatal class - which may mean missing a meal - is so stressful that focusing on the session itself can be very difficult even though it is aimed at preparing them for one of the most important days of their lives. But now help is at hand thanks to the first ever weekend antenatal session where couples can learn everything they need to in the relaxed environment of a five star hotel in beautiful Scotland. Many high-flying career women find it difficult to make antenatal classes as they have to take time out of work but a weekend in the countryside far away from the hustle and bustle of London is the perfect antidote to a busy work schedule. Often husbands and partners are unable to attend some or all antenatal classes and women find it hard to concentrate because they are still thinking about work, may be hungry and have had an arduous journey. Couples can enjoy a "babymooning" weekend organised by Scotland-based company The Baby Gurus - qualified experts on giving birth - when they can focus entirely on the birth of their child and enjoy all the anticipation of the new arrival in luxury while picking up everything they need to know. While women learn about breastfeeding men can fit in a round of golf or even falconry if they prefer. The emphasis is on relaxation so as well as learning how to handle the birth women can also take advantage of treatments at the spa, such as facials and massages. There are also aquanatal classes enabling women to carry out a gentle form of exercise in the water. Co-founder of The Baby Gurus Emma Thomson said: "We know from our research there is an enormous demand for antenatal classes. A lot of women complain that they don't find it easy to focus on everything that they should learn because they are stressed when they attend classes because they have to leave work early and miss tea in order to attend. They want their other halves there but often they can't make it because of work commitments. "What we are offering is the perfect antenatal training package - a weekend in beautiful surroundings where couples can relax and learn everything they need to know as well as being able to dine in top restaurants, take advantage of spa facilities, golf, horse riding and even falconry. This is the ideal environment as well as giving couples the chance to "babymoon" - spend quality time getting excited about their new arrival and celebrating it." The sessions will take place at five star hotels in Scotland including The Gleneagles Hotel, Mar Hall, and The Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa. Emma, who has a diploma in childbirth education and fellow co-founder Sonya Murray, a midwife, have found that the concept appeals to high-flying career woman in London who don't have time for antenatal classes but believe a weekend in a relaxing place would be the perfect antidote to their stressful lives. Emma added: "This is a really special time which the couples will remember for the rest of their lives. They are wholly focussed which means they find it really easy to learn." The course, which costs from £600 per person, begins on Friday afternoon and ends late Sunday afternoon. They are due to start in on the 2nd of February. The company also runs courses on HypnoBirthing ® . RENEE'S QUOTES EXPLAINING HYPNOBIRTHING ® HERE Lorna Knott, 39, who lives near Aberdeen, used HypnoBirthing ® for the birth of her son Christopher, 14 weeks. Her and her husband Kevin's other two older sons, Cameron, 13 and Patrick, eight, were not born using HypnoBirthing ® . Lorna said: "HypnoBirthing ® helps you to completely relax in labour and helps you not to feel fear. It is a taught self-hypnosis using visualisation techniques that enable you not to feel pain thus making giving birth a calm and wonderful experience." "It really helps to have your partner with you. They can give you "trigger" words to help you focus. It's a very deep form of relaxation. It's an absolutely wonderful way to give birth. "When I gave birth using self-hypnosis amazingly I didn't even break into a sweat. There's no fear at all. Babies birth themselves. I was amazed at how quick my recovery was after the birth. "You are using visualising techniques that help you to concentrate through the contractions and in-between. It gives you something to do with the contraction instead of fighting it. "I didn't get at all stressed when I gave birth using self-hypnosis - I felt totally calm, in control and excited to see my baby. I wasn't exhausted at all. "It's the most remarkable thing I've ever done. I was really proud of myself and really felt like I had achieved something. As a result Christopher is a calm and relaxed baby and wasn't fractious at all after the birth." To book, contact The Baby Gurus on www.thebabygurus.com. |
