Holiday DelightsChildren live in the moment and if the moment is full of excitement and happiness that’s really good enough for them. They are full of anticipation when it comes to the holiday season. There is simply so much to look forward to – holidays, presents, decorations, yummy food, fancy clothes and of course wrapping paper!! Some Tips to enjoy this season 1. If you have just started a new family this year, come up with a good family ritual and make that a tradition for the years to come. 2. The tiniest of gift recipients don’t care much for what’s inside their presents they rather have the wrapping!! Get holiday paper that’s shiny and colourful. 3. Kids love music. Teach your kids songs that you learnt as a child or go caroling together. 4. Get all your family and extended family together. Gathering around with family and friends is a treat for your kids, especially when loved ones live far away. 5. Make time for the special Christmas stories. There is no shortage for wonderful tales this season, be it Frosty the Snowman or the Baby Jesus story. 6. Don’t miss dressing up as Santa this year…. I’m sure you and your little ones will love that memory!! 7. Make some cool messy food with your little one. Let him be a little chef this year. Make some holiday gingersnaps…here’s how: Ingredients: 2 cups flour, 1 tsp ground cinnamon, 1 tsp ground ginger, ½ tsp ground cloves, ½ tsp salt 2 tsp baking soda, ¾ cup unsalted butter, 1cup sugar, 1 egg and cinnamon sugar. - Preheat oven to 375 degrees and grease 2 baking sheets. Mix flour, spices, salt and baking soda in a bowl. Beat butter, eggs and sugar in a bowl. Slowly add flour mixture and beat to combine. Make the dough balls and roll each on the cinnamon sugar placing them on the baking sheets. Bake for 10 minutes or until golden brown. Have a great holiday season and here’s wishing all you Yummy Mummies a Safe and Happy 2007!!! |
